Otley Church awaits the arrival of a new ministry development coordinator to provide vision and direction for its ministry from birth to 12th Grade. Otley Church is thankful for the vibrant ministry under the direction of our staff which has seen an increasing number of new visitors and families resulting in a spike of our children and youth with 30% of the congregation under the age of 16.

Otley Church is passionate about reaching our community with the good news of Jesus Christ. Otley Church is heavily invested in the children and youth ministries both with facilities (including an updated nursery) and financial support. We are a multi-generational congregation that continues to be amazed by the work God is doing in our midst. Otley Church is a member of the Sending Network.

About the Position

Our mission and vision at Otley Church is to Seek God, Love Others and Serve Community + Relentlessly pursue new and growing disciples. The Ministry Development Coordinator will have a unique role in this mission and is tasked to lead in such a way where our children and youth will know, love and follow Jesus while encouraging those around us to join them.

This position is part-time and reports to the Lead Pastor,

Areas of Ministry Leadership

  • Nursery

  • Discovery Hour

  • Revolution/Wednesday Night Programming

  • Take Two (Co-Ed) Preschool-2nd Grade

  • GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting their Savior) 3rd-8th Grade

  • Cadets 3rd-8th Grade

  • Children’s/Youth Outreach Events

  •                Trunk or Treat (Yearly)

  •                Night in Bethlehem (Every Other Year)

  • VBS (Vacation Bible School)

  • Youth Group (9-12th Grade)

Responsibilities

·        Shaping, leading and ensuring the alignment of the Children and Youth Ministries in partnership with the Lead Pastor

·        Obtaining curriculum and supplies needed for the leadership for all programs in areas of ministry leadership (Discovery Hour, Revolution/Wednesday Night, VBS, Night in Bethlehem)

·        Recruiting volunteers for all open leadership roles and fill in where/when needed

·        Produce a schedule for nursery volunteers

·        Provide a friendly environment and experience on Sunday mornings ensuring a clean and decorated nursery that is supplied with age-appropriate toys and snacks

·        Develop and implement child safety and discipline policies which include background checks for all volunteers in ministry areas

·        Oversee management of children and youth database

·        Oversee ministry area budgets

·        Teach a Discovery Hour class (as needed)

·        Event Planning (Trunk or Treat, Night in Bethlehem VBS)

o   Obtaining of Curriculum

o   Determining Date and Schedule

o   Decorations

o   Recruiting and training volunteers, fitting them with supplies

o   Publication and communication with the community and families

o   Fill in as needed

·        Coordinate with the Lead Pastor and other volunteers to produce messages to the children during the service.

·        Organize the 8th Grade/High School Graduation recognition by contacting graduates, ordering gifts, presenting them to the congregation and supply refreshments for fellowship time

·        Coordinate Operation Christmas Child program for youth and Wednesday Nights

·        Recruit, train, and encourage youth sponsors, assisting them with obtaining curriculum and coordinating events such as mission trips and Rocky Mountain High

·        Meet quarterly with other area KidMin leaders to share ideas, encouragement, and brainstorm.

·        Once a year host the KidsMin leaders gathering

·        Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

·        High School Diploma or equivalent

·        2-3 years of experience working with children or youth (preferably in a church capacity)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

·        A heart for children/youth and experience working with youth/children in a church context

·        Experience in dealing with behavioral issues and can employ conflict management skills

·        A working knowledge of childhood development, especially as it pertains to the educational process and spiritual development

·        Strong interpersonal skills

·        Effective at time management

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills

Personal

·        Growing relationship with Jesus Christ; understanding of the centrality of the Gospel and commitment to the purpose and mission of Otley Church

·        Membership at Otley Church (or joining Otley Church upon employment) is required

·        Grace-filled and compassionate people-person who responds to situations with patience and love

·        Desires to develop relationships in ord  er to equip and empower volunteers
